WSD-1 sound signal switch is intended to operate together with SA-K5, SA-K6, SA-K7, SA-P8, SAO-P8, SG-Pgw3, SGO-Pgw, SAOZ-Pk2, SGO-Pgz3 signaling devices. The switch serves to switch off acoustic signal coming from the above-mentioned signaling devices.

Description

The WSD-1 audible signal switch is destined for collaboration with:

sounders type SA-K5, SA-K6, SA-K7
sounders type SA-P8, sounders with VAD type SAO-P8
sounders with VAD type SAOZ-Pk2
voice sounder type SG-Pgw3
voice sounder with VAD type SGO-Pgw
voice sounder with VAD type SGO-Pgz3

The switch turns off an acoustic signal coming from the above mentioned alarm devices. An application of one WSD-1 audible signal switch allows for turning off only one alarm device (SA-K5, SA-K6, SA-K7, SG-Pgw3, SGO-Pgw, SGO-Pgz3) or all devices connected to network if they are synchronized (SA-P8, SAO-P8, SAOZ-Pk2). The WSD audible signal switch is applied in fire alarm systems.

Construction

The switch consists of a plastic housing with a single key. There is a signal element in the key. Alarm device cables are connected to terminals on a printed-circuit board. The switch is mounted to the wall with two screws. An alarm signal, which sets off in the fire alarm system, sets off the SA-K, SA-P8, SAO-P8, SG-Pgw3, SGO-Pgw, SAOZ-Pk2 or SGO-Pgz3 types alarm devices connected to it. An acoustic signal of the alarm device can be switched off by using the WSD-1 audible switch key. This fact is signalled by a flashing LED diode. The diode flashes as long as the alarm signal from the fire alarm control unit fades out as a result of resetting the control unit. If another alarm signal sets off in the control unit or it sets off because a fire detector set off the system, it sets off relevant alarm devices again.

Notice The WSD-1 switch is supplied directly from the signaling device connection block. Do not connect an external power source to the terminals of the WSD block.

Where is the best place to mount WSD-1 switch?

WSD-1 switch should be installed in places where persons authorized to turn off the fire alarm signal have access, it is not permitted that the WSD-1 switch is mounted in places where unauthorized persons have access.

What can be the practical use of WSD-1 switch?

The practical application of WSD-1 makes it easier to conduct rescue and evacuation operations. At the time we turn off the sound signal, leaving at the same time the optical signalon it is possible to issue commands that are not deafened by the fire alarm signal.

Is it possible to turn the acoustic signal on again after it has been turned off by WSD-1?

Unfortunately, no, the idea of operation of the WSD-1 switch is based on the principle of "stable" switching off the signal until the fire alarm is cleared (in practice, switching off the power supply to the alarm line). The WSD-1 switch has an electronic system in its structure that performs the "latch" function; only turning off the voltage unlocks the latch.

Should an additional cable with a cable junction box be provided to the WSD-1 switch?

No, additional protection is not required for the WSD-1 switch, because the alarm device to which the switch is connected, is connected to the FAS installation through a cable junction box of required fire resistance with a built-in fuse.

The WSD-1 switch is a fire alarm audible signal switch. It is intended to be used together with acoustic and optical alarm devices. Thanks to the use of the WSD-1 switch a user can turn off sound of an alarm device with an optical signal on. The WSD-1 switch is connected straight to device terminals. It is not necessary to fix a switch through a fire resistant cable junction box. There applies the following principle: one alarm device – one WSD-1 switch.
