The SO-P8 visual alarm device has been added to our offer, replacing the SO-Pd13 model, which has been produced for years. The new optician is certified as an outdoor VAD (Type B). It can successfully operate at temperatures from -25°C to +70°C. It comes in 6 varieties that differ in the color of the housing (white or red), as well as the color of the generated light (white, red, white and red alternately). It is worth noting that the Certificate of Approval is valid only for the SO-P8/CC variety (red housing and red light), while the Certificate of Constancy of Performance is valid for all varieties.

What’s new?

The biggest change compared to the SO-Pd13 is the addition of the option to select photometric solid shapes and flash frequency using the built-in microswitch. In this way, within one device, you can choose 1 of 4 solid shapes (3m, 6m, 9m, 12m). The flash frequency can also be changed in the range of 0.5÷1.3 Hz. For SO-Pd13, the desired shape had to be specified at the ordering stage, and it was impossible to change the flash frequency. It is worth noting that the 12m solid shape is a complete novelty. It allows to achieve even 70% larger radius of the coverage area (compared to SO-Pd13/9m mounted on the ceiling, height 6 m). The option of choosing the solid shape allows you to adjust the parameters of the device to the conditions prevailing at the final assembly site. Thanks to this, it is possible to optimally place the VADs in space. When choosing a solid shape, pay attention to the target mounting height of the device, as well as its orientation (wall or ceiling mounting).

This is worth knowing

Please note that changing the settings (solid shape, flash frequency) affects the current and power consumption. As in the SO-Pd13 (variants with a synchronization module), also in the SO-P8 it is possible to set the delay time between starting each subsequent device. This allows you to create the so-called “wave effect”, in which the moment of flashing of successive signaling devices may, for example suggest the direction of evacuation. This option is outside the scope of EN 54-23:2010. The SO-P8 has the option of synchronizing the optical module also with the SA-K7N, SAOZ-Pk2 signaling devices using an additional wire. In order for the synchronization to be performed correctly, the flash frequency of 0.5 Hz must be selected in the SO-P8 signaling devices. The cover of the optical module is also different (with the addition of a diffuser), which allows you to visually distinguish the SO-P8 from the SO-Pd13 signaling devices. This procedure also improved the appearance and overall aesthetics of the VAD. A new feature is the starting current limiter. The SO-P8 housing has a protection degree of IP54 and mechanical resistance of IK07.
